Bucknell Athletics Completes Department Restructuring Plan

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Director of Athletics & Recreation John Hardt announced today the completion of a restructuring of administrative responsibilities within the Bucknell University athletics & recreation department. The restructuring plan included promotions and reassignment of responsibilities for eight current staff members.
"I am very proud of our entire staff and their work in supporting the scholar-athlete ideal that is the foundation for Bucknell's sponsorship of Division I athletics on campus" said Hardt. "Current staff transitions provided the catalyst for this second phase of our restructuring plan that builds on our established success by promoting from within to recognize and reward these individuals for their good work and positive contributions to Bucknell and Bison athletics."
Calvin Symons, who is completing his fourth year on the Bison athletics staff, has been elevated from Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services to Senior Associate Athletics Director - Operations and Events. In his new role, Symons will oversee the management of athletics facilities and events while also having administrative oversight of recreation services.
Alexsandra Robles, now in her fourth year in Compliance Services at Bucknell, moves from Coordinator of Compliance Services to Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services. In this new role, she will manage the day-to-day operations of the NCAA Compliance and Student Services areas. Bucknell will begin an immediate search for the position of Coordinator of Compliance and Student Services.
Leslie Moore has been elevated and given additional responsibilities in her new role as Assistant Athletics Director - Operations and Events. Starting her fifth year, Moore will be responsible for the day-to-day fulfillment of scheduling and events requirements for the department's varsity and club sport/intramural activities. Also included in the restructuring plan is the immediate hiring of a Game Operations Assistant.
Maisha Palmer and Todd Newcomb have been promoted from Associate Athletics Directors to Senior Associate Athletics Directors. In addition, Tim Pavlechko has been elevated from his Senior Associate Athletics Director position to Deputy Director of Athletics.
In his 12th year on staff, Pavlechko continues in his role as chief aide to the Director of Athletics with additional oversight of departmental operations. Newcomb, starting his 13th year will add oversight of the University's official licensing program to his responsibilities with the Bison Club. In addition to her Senior Woman Administrator responsibilities, Palmer will provide administrative oversight in the areas of NCAA Compliance and Student Services.
Mark Keppler and Jon Terry have been promoted from Assistant Athletics Directors to Associate Athletics Directors. Keppler, entering his 26th year on staff, continues in his role administering the department's sports medicine delivery to 700+ student-athletes. Beginning his 11th year back on campus, Terry will add additional responsibilities to manage the areas of internet and broadband as well as video productions.
Bucknell sponsors 27 intercollegiate sports at the Division I level. It is a charter member of the Patriot League and has won the league's all-sports championship in 17 of the 21 years it has been contested, including 2010-11. Bucknell ranks fifth in Division I in producing Academic All-Americans and annually ranks among the national leaders in the graduation rate of its student-athletes.
