LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's rowing program is set to receive a major boost in its land-based training as a two-level ergometer room is currently being constructed in the former bleacher seating area adjacent to the Berger Family Weight Room, inside the Kenneth Langone Athletics and Recreation Center. Construction of the facility is underway and the room is expected to be open and operational early in the fall semester.
The two-level facility will include space for more than 40 ergometers on the lower level and additional fitness equipment on the upper level. The entire area will feature Mondo rubberized flooring with carpet accents featuring Bucknell Athletics colors and logos. An internal sound and video system will also enhance the space.
"The erg room will have an immediate impact on our student-athletes' experience," said Bucknell head women's rowing coach Stephen Kish. "The new equipment and new practice venue will enhance the quality of both our physical and technical training as well as the efficiency of our practice time."
The bleacher seating area that is being renovated was initially used for spectators when the facility housed the former Freas-Rooke Pool.
Periodic photo updates of the ergometer room construction will be posted on BucknellBison.com.
