Bucknell Women's Rowing Assistant Dan Wolleben Earns Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year Award for Second Time

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell assistant women's rowing coach Dan Wolleben was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association earlier this week. It is the second year in a row Wolleben, who is in his fourth year with the Bison, has been cited with the award.
Wolleben acts as the varsity assistant coach for Bucknell, working primarily with the second varsity eight during the spring. He helped guide the Bison to a sixth consecutive Patriot League title last month.
After working primarily with the freshman boats in his first two years at Bucknell, Wolleben has made quite an impact on the second varsity eight in 2010 and again in 2011. The second varsity eight had a strong regular season in 2011 with victories over Delaware, Old Dominion, Duke and a first-ever victory over Louisville.
In the championship portion of the season, the second varsity eight continued to improve and develop. It posted a Patriot League Championships win, helping the Bison to their sixth consecutive conference crown. Two weeks later the second varsity eight concluded the season with a silver medal performance at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta.
Wolleben is the second member of Bucknell's coaching staff to be recognized this year. Head coach Stephen Kish earned his fifth Patriot League Coach of the Year citation last month.
