Ten Bucknell Women's Rowers Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's rowing team had a program-record 10 student-athletes named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes, it was announced Tuesday. Elizabeth Aigler, Katherine Anderson, Stephanie Frank, Emily Gladstone, Taylor Jordan, Jillian O'Mara, Nicole Pilling, Carol Schoenecker, Julia Steen and Katharine Watson were the 10 Bison cited. Aigler and Frank were recognized as members of the lightweight eight.
The CRCA recognized student-athletes who are at least sophomore standing, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have been members of the institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boats for a minimum of 75% of the spring season.
Bucknell had nine CRCA National Scholar-Athletes in 2010 and it has now had 36 rowers recognized since 2007.
Anderson, Frank and O'Mara are each two-time CRCA National Scholar-Athletes, while the other seven Bison are first-time honorees.
Tuesday's honor is the latest in a line of awards for O'Mara, who was recently named a Capital One Academic All-District II At-Large Second Team choice. She was also a First Team All-Patriot Leaguer and a member of the Patriot League All-Academic Team. Anderson (First Team All-PL), Jordan (Second Team All-PL), Schoenecker (First Team All-PL, Academic All-PL), Watson (Second Team All-PL) and Frank (Academic All-PL) have also earned at least two individual awards this spring.
Bucknell, which won its sixth consecutive Patriot League title last month, still has one event remaining this year as the lightweight eight will compete at the IRA National Championship Regatta next week on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Bison won the event in 2007 and have finished in the top five each of the last four years.
