Bucknell Women's Rowing Advances Four Boats to Semifinals at Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Schuylkill River) - The first day of the Dad Vail Regatta, the country's largest collegiate regatta, took place on Friday and three Bucknell boats posted first-place showings in the heats. A total of four Bison crews advanced to Saturday's semifinals.
Bucknell's second varsity eight, varsity four and freshman four earned wins in their heats, while the varsity eight finished second in its. All four will participate in Saturday morning's semifinals. The finals for each event will take place Saturday afternoon.
Also scheduled to be in action Saturday is the Bucknell lightweight eight, which is one of four boats entered in the finals race. The Bison lightweight eight captured the gold medal at the 2009 Dad Vail Regatta.
Bucknell senior Allegra Colandro was also in action Friday, rowing in a singles race for the first time this season. The Woodbridge, Conn., native finished fifth in her six-boat heat.
The freshman four will get things started for Bucknell on Saturday morning with a semifinal race at 7:12 a.m. The varsity eight semifinal will be at 10:25 a.m., while its final is slated for 4:13 p.m.
