Seven Bucknell Women's Rowers Named All-Patriot League

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Thanks to winning its sixth consecutive Patriot League title, the Bucknell women's rowing team had seven All-Patriot League selections, the league office announced Thursday. First-team picks included Katherine Anderson (Piedmont, Calif./Bentley School), Christina Cabiati (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee), Jillian O'Mara (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge) and Carol Schoenecker (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), while Allison Martens (Hughesville, Pa./Blair Academy), Taylor Jordan (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Pine Crest) and Katharine Watson (Old Saybrook, Conn./The Williams School) earned second-team accolades.
All seven Bison All-Patriot League selections were members of the varsity eight, which earned Patriot League Boat of the Year honors for the sixth straight year and was also named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday.
The varsity eight won the clinching race at Sunday's Patriot League Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Bucknell beat out second-place Colgate by three seconds and third-place Navy by nearly four seconds.
This is the second consecutive year seven Bison have earned All-Patriot League honors. Bucknell has had 21 different student-athletes combine for 30 All-League citations since 2006.
O'Mara earned he second career first-team certificate, while Cabiati was a second-team honoree a year ago. The other five Bison All-League choices were recognized for the first time.
In addition to the All-Patriot League honors, Bucknell head coach Stephen Kish earned his fifth Patriot League Coach of the Year award for guiding the Bison to the title. Kish has been named Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and now 2011.
The Bison varsity eight and other openweight boats will be in action this Saturday, April 30, against Duke and Iowa in Ithaca, N.Y.
