Bucknell Women's Golf Now Tied for 5th at Big South Championship

NINETY-SIX, S.C. -- Freshman Lauren Bernard (Malvern, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) carded a 79 to remain in the top 10 in the individual standings, and the Bucknell women's golf team is now tied for fifth place after posting a second-round 320 on Tuesday at The Patriot Club.
In windier conditions Tuesday, Bernard followed up her opening 75 with a 79 and is in sole possession of sixth place, five strokes behind leader Hannah Hellyer of Gardner-Webb, who shot a tournament best 73 in round two. Bernard was just 1-over par through 10 holes before giving some shots back down the stretch.
Freshman Bridget Wilcox (Bernardsville, N.J./Taft School) also fired a 79 in the second round. Wilcox had nothing worse than bogey on they day and finished with a birdie on 18 to take some momentum into the final round.
Freshman Kasha Scott (Cherry Hills Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) and senior Katie Jurenovich (Warren, Ohio/Howland) both shot 81, and Minjoo Lee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) posted an 84.
Pre-tournament favorite Coastal Carolina takes a nine-shot lead into Wednesday's final round. The Chanticleers followed an opening 301 with a 312 on Tuesday. Gardner-Webb cut into the lead some with a second-round 306, the best of the day, and is second at 622.
High Point sits in third at 635, followed by Charleston Southern (640), Bucknell (641), Radford (641), Winthrop (646), Presbyterian (687) and Holy Cross (709).
The Bison tee off at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the third and final round.
