SELINSGROVE, Pa - Leah Goeke made a splash with one of Bucknell's fastest times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, leading Bison track and field at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday. Goeke earned a second-place finish in 11:26.54. Also in the steeplechase, Keith Sansone claimed the lone victory for Bucknell at the unscored meet.
Goeke's time of 11:26.54 ranks seventh all-time at Bucknell and was a personal best by eight seconds. The strong performance came in just her third career attempt in the event. Just behind Goeke was Kirstin Rudd, who placed third in 12:20.48.
Sansone led a group of Bison in the men's steeplechase with his winning time of 9:40.87. Robert Yamnicky, Justin O'Brien and Nicholas Blodis rounded out the top four in the race, giving Bucknell the sweep.
At the shorter distances, Olivia Kerr and Hannah Jones anchored Bucknell with their hurdle efforts. Kerr placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a career-best 1:08.44, while Jones was fifth (1:10.41). That marked the second top-five finish for Jones, who also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 16.59.
Bucknell will be back in action next weekend for the William & Mary Colonial Relays. Action runs April 1-2 in Williamsburg, Va.
