Eight Bucknell Men's Water Polo Players Recognized with ACWPC All-Academic Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second time in the last week, eight Bucknell men's water polo players were recognized for their academic prowess. On Tuesday, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches included eight Bison in their list of All-Academic Award winners. As a team, Bucknell owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.11, ranking 10th among all programs listed.
Student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.20 to 3.40 GPA (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.70 GPA (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding). Bucknell had two players recognized in the Outstanding category, four in the Superior list and two more land in the Excellent group.
Freshman Trevor Reitz (Boynton Beach, Fla./Gulliver Prep) and sophomore Matt Napleton (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) were listed in the Outstanding category, while seniors Howie Kalter (Durham, N.H./Phillips Academy Andover) and Paul Reamey (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), along with freshman Alex Nowlin (Coto de Caza, Calif./Tesoro) and junior Spencer Richley (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) were part of the Superior list. Junior Daniel Schwartz (Miami Beach, Fla./Ransom Everglades) and freshman Andrew Somers (Saint Davids, Pa./The Haverford School) were part of the excellent group.
Overall, 240 student-athletes were recognized by the ACWPC with GPAs of at least 3.2.
Bucknell finished the 2010 season with a 13-16 record. The Bison advanced to the Southern Championships title game for the first time since 1998 and finished fourth at the Eastern Championship. Bucknell faced 13 nationally ranked opponents.
