Bucknell Football Spring Practice Begins Tuesday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - While Monday is the first full day of spring, the sounds of fall will hit the Bucknell campus on Tuesday as the Bison football team will take the field for its first spring practice session. The first practice is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Bucknell will conduct a total of 15 practices over the next month, culminating with the spring game on the evening of April 16.
Bison head coach Joe Susan returns for his second season at the helm of the program with his entire coaching staff from last year still in place.
Bucknell, in 2011, is expected to return 16 of 22 starters from last November's season finale at Holy Cross. Among the prominent returnees are all four players who were honored with individual postseason awards from the Patriot League last year. All-Patriot League selections DL Josh Eden and DL Robert De La Rosa will return to anchor the defensive line, while All-Patriot Leaguer FB Travis Friend and Patriot League Rookie of the Year QB Brandon Wesley will enter their second season in the Bison offensive backfield.
Bucknell's 2011 campaign kicks off Sept. 3 with a 6 p.m. home game against Duquesne at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The Bison will also have home contests Sept. 10 (Marist), Oct. 1 (Georgetown), Oct. 8 (Lehigh) and Oct. 22 (Holy Cross).
