Bucknell Women's Water Polo Hosts ECAC Championship this Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. - After an 0-3 weekend at the Maryland Invitational, the Bucknell women's water polo team is happy to return to Kinney Natatorium this coming weekend for the ECAC Championship. The Bison host the eight-team, two-day event starting Saturday.
Bucknell is the second seed in the field and will open play Saturday at 12 p.m. against seventh-seeded Iona. The winner will face the winner of the Brown-Harvard contest at 8:30 p.m. Sunday's championship game is slated for 2:30 p.m. No. 20 Princeton is the top seed and is the only ranked team in the tournament.
Due to this weekend's event being the ECAC Championship, admission will be charged for entry into the event. The cost of a single-day ticket is $10, while a two-day pass is $15. Bucknell students will be admitted free of charge with their IDs. Tickets will be available on site.
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Notebook (4-3, 0-0 CWPA)
Bucknell is 50-17 (.746) all-time at Kinney Natatorium, including 4-0 this year. The Bison have won seven of their last eight at home.
Senior Kandis Canonica enters the weekend with 350 career points, placing her third in program history behind Aubrey Rowe (358) and Meagan Gins (351).
Junior Amanda Skonezney has won 124 sprints in her career, placing her second on that list, just seven behind record-holder Eileen Ketterer's standard of 131.
Junior goalie Brittany Connell enters the weekend with 88 career saves. She has a chance to become the sixth player to reach triple figures in stops.
Bucknell is 17-3 since the beginning of 2010 when netting at least 10 goals.
Freshman Julianne Valdes continues to be the only Bison to start every game this season.
Freshmen have tallied 30 of Bucknell's 73 goals this season.
Bucknell is outscoring its opponents in every quarter this season. The Bison hold an 18-13 advantage in the first quarter, a 21-16 edge in the second, a 15-10 lead in the third and 18-16 in the fourth.
