LEWISBURG, Pa. -- For the second week in a row Bucknell claimed the Patriot League Anaconda Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as junior center Mike Muscala (Roseville, Minn./Roseville) was so honored on Monday after two strong performances just before Christmas. Sophomore guard Cameron Ayers earned Player of the Week honors last week.
Muscala's second career Player of the Week citation comes after he led the team in both scoring and rebounding in each of Bucknell's two games last week. Last Tuesday in a loss at No. 1 Syracuse, Muscala totaled 14 points and seven rebounds. Two days later he collected 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 75-61 road victory at Boston University.
Muscala's sixth double-double in 13 games this season kept him atop the Patriot League leaderboard in rebounds per game (9.2). The reigning PL Player of the Year also leads Bucknell in scoring at 13.6 points per game.
Muscala cleared the 500-rebound plateau in the Syracuse game, and he is closing in on the 1,000-point milestone as well. He now has 980 career points, and he will soon become the 17th player in Bucknell history with 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
Bucknell is 8-5 this season heading into Wednesday night's home game against 8-3 Loyola (Md.).
