LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lindsay Horbatuck (Avon, Conn./Avon) became the first Bucknell women's basketball player this season to be named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. The junior recorded a double-double in Bucknell's 49-39 win over Fordham last week. It is the first Bison Athlete of the Week honor of Horbatuck's career.
Horbatuck led Bucknell to its victory by totaling 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the team in both categories against the Rams last Tuesday. The forward's scoring came on 4 of 6 shooting from both the field and the free throw line. She also added an assist during her 32 minutes of play.
Horbatuck has now had the team high in rebounding in six of 10 games and leads Bucknell in boards with 8.3 per game this season. With her latest performance against Fordham, she has amassed a team-best 312 career rebounds in just over two years of play.
The double-double last week was the second of the season for Horbatuck, who also totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds at Saint Francis (Pa.) in late November. She has five double-doubles for her career.
Horbatuck is the first women's basketball player to be named the Susquehanna Valley Limo Bison Athlete of the Week since teammate Shelby Romine claimed the honor Jan. 23, 2011 and the second since Lauren Schober on Feb. 1, 2009.
Bucknell is now 2-8 on the year. The team will be back in action on Sunday when it travels to Ithaca, N.Y., for a 1 p.m. matchup with Cornell. Live stats and video can be found at CornellBigRed.com. The Bison's live radio broadcast can also be heard on WVBU 90.5 and at SportsJuice.com.
