BETHLEHEM, Pa. - David Brown and John Dugan both earned All-Patriot League honors as they were Bucknell's top two finishers at the Patriot League Men's Cross Country Championships Saturday at Lehigh. The Bison finished in fifth place in the team standings, one spot better than their 2010 showing.
Brown was Bucknell's top finisher, crossing the line 11th in 25 minutes, 35.10 seconds, two spots and one second ahead of Dugan, who was named the Rookie of the Meet. Both runners earned Second Team All-Patriot League plaudits.
Bucknell's other five scorers finished between 27th (Dustin Horning) and 42nd (Michael McGowan). Four of the top seven Bison finishers were freshmen, while Brown was the lone senior in that group.
Bucknell finishes in fifth place, nearly 60 points ahead of sixth-place Colgate, and just 14 points behind fourth-place Army.
"Our men ran our best race of the season," said Bison head coach Kevin Donner. "Although we were only fifth, we did close the gap quite a bit with the rest of the league compared to one month ago. With only one senior in the top seven the future looks great."
Navy claimed its fourth consecutive Patriot League crown, defeating second-place American 38-49. Colgate's Christopher Johnson took the individual title.
