LEWISBURG, Pa. -Bucknell senior men's water polo player Daniel Schwartz (Miami Beach, Fla./Ransom Everglades) equaled his career high with three goals and dished out one assist to help the Bison to a 10-6 victory at No. 13 Princeton on Saturday. On Monday he was named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week.
A two-year starter, Schwartz netted his season-high three goals to lead the team against the Tigers. His four points were also a career high and they equaled Alex Nowlin, who won this year's first Bison Athlete of the Week award in early September, for team-high honors in the matchup between two top-20 teams.
In addition to his four points, Schwartz registered one steal, one ejection drawn and one field block in Bucknell's only game last week. He leads the team with a career-high seven field blocks this season.
Schwartz has a career high-tying 10 goals, five assists, 15 points, 10 steals and three ejections drawn this season. He is one of four Bison to start all 10 games.
A center defender, Schwartz now has 33 goals, 21 assists and 49 points in his four-year career. A veteran of 84 games, Schwartz has earned 29 career starting assignments, all in the last two years.
Schwartz and his Bucknell teammates will be back in action this coming weekend when they host four key league games at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison will face Princeton (8 p.m.) in a rematch on Friday, take on Johns Hopkins (12 p.m.) and George Washington (5 p.m.) on Saturday, and face Navy (11:30 a.m.) on Sunday. Saturday's George Washington game will be a "White Out" and fans are encouraged to wear white and/or purchase white Bucknell water polo t-shirts on site. Sunday's contest against the Mids will be broadcast live on Bison Vision.
