LEWISBURG, Pa. – The first-place Bucknell men's basketball team rounds out its homestand this week with key Patriot League matchups against Lafayette on Wednesday and Colgate on Saturday (both games 7 p.m.). Tickets are on sale for both games, and Saturday night Dave Paulsen and the Bison coaching staff invite all fans to help participate in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers Weekend.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Each year coaches across the country unite in the common effort to raise cancer awareness in their communities by wearing sneakers along with their suits on gameday.
The Bucknell staff will be participating during Saturday night's game against Colgate, and Coach Paulsen is encouraging fans to take part by wearing sneakers to the game.
In addition, members of the Bucknell men's basketball team in conjunction with the Bucknell chapter of Colleges Against Cancer will be selling Coaches vs. Cancer tee shirts and wrist bands on Thursday and Friday in the Elaine Langone Center Mall (11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.) as well as at Sojka Pavilion on Saturday night. Donation cards will also be available, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
Tickets for either game may be purchased in advance at either of the two Campus Box Office locations: the Weis Center on campus and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell Bookstore on Market Street in Lewisburg. Tickets may also be purchased online at http://www.bucknell.edu/boxoffice or by telephone at 570-577-1000. Walk-up sales at the Sojka Pavilion ticket office begin one hour before tipoff.
Live Webcasts of both games will be available on a subscription basis on Bison Vision at BucknellBison.com. In the local listening area, the radio broadcast will air on Eagle 107 (WEGH 107.3 FM). The live audio will be available online free of charge on SportsJuice.com.
The Bison are coming off a thrilling 74-72 victory over Holy Cross on Sunday. Mike Muscala, who hit the game-winning shot with 1.4 seconds left in that game, was named the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week on Tuesday. The victory was Bucknell's sixth in a row and 10th in its last 11 games. At 3-0 in Patriot League play, the Bison are in sole possession of first place, but four teams, including Lafayette, are just one game back at 2-1.
