LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's basketball team, now 9-1 in its last 10 games and coming off a convincing road win over American on Wednesday, will host arch-rival and Patriot League co-leader Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon in a game that will be televised nationally on CBS College Sports. An “Orange Out” has been declared at Sojka Pavilion, and there are tickets still remaining for the 2 p.m. contest.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at either of the two Campus Box Office locations: the Weis Center on campus and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell Bookstore on Market Street in Lewisburg. Tickets may also be purchased online at http://www.bucknell.edu/boxoffice or by telephone at 570-577-1000. Walk-up sales at the Sojka Pavilion ticket office begin at 1 p.m.
Sunday's game will also feature the annual “Dirk Sojka's Slam Dunk with Bison Basketball” event. Proceeds from ticket sales, a silent auction and raffle drawing will go to Suncom Industries, which provides services to adults with disabilities to help reach their potential within the community. It is held in memory of Gary and Sandy Sojka's son, Dirk, who passed away in 2001 and had attended Suncom for 11 years. During breaks in the action, personalities from WQKX radio – including “Drew and the Crew” morning show host Drew Kelly – will compete in contests against members of the Bucknell athletics staff.
For those that are unable to make it to Sojka Pavilion, the contest will air live on CBS College Sports, with veteran play-by-play man Bob Socci and noted author and journalist John Feinstein on the call. The network is available through most cable operators (check local listings), as well as on DIRECTV Channel 613 and Dish Network Channel 152.
In the local listening area, the radio broadcast will air on Eagle 107 (WEGH 107.3 FM). The live audio will be available online free of charge on SportsJuice.com.
The Bison are fresh off a convincing 75-60 win at Patriot League preseason favorite American on Wednesday night, led by Mike Muscala's 33-point, 10-rebound, five-block evening. Bucknell is now 11-7 on the season and 2-0 in the Patriot League. After some tough times in non-league play, Holy Cross has also started 2-0 in the Patriot League with wins over Lafayette and Army.
Sunday's winner will take over sole possession of first place atop the Patriot League standings.
