LEWISBURG, Pa. – After winning her second consecutive race last weekend, Bucknell women's cross country's Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) was named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. Fulmer took first place at the Duquesne Tri-Meet on Saturday, leading the Bison to a commanding team victory.
A two-time First Team All-Patriot League performer in cross country, Fulmer completed the five-kilometer course at Schenley Park in 18 minutes. The win was her second in as many meets after the junior was also the victor at the Bucknell Open on Sept. 4.
The Bison Athlete of the Week nod is the fourth of Fulmer's career. She received the honor twice as a freshman and once last season after becoming Bucknell's top finisher at the Patriot League Championships and leading the team to yet another title.
Fulmer's finish on Saturday helped Bucknell to a decisive team victory. With 18 points, the Bison defeated Duquesne (40 points) and Pittsburgh (84). The team win allowed Bucknell to move up the rankings to seventh in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region poll.
Bucknell will race next on Friday, Oct. 1 at Lehigh's Paul Short Memorial Invitational. Races in Bethlehem, Pa., begin at 10 a.m.
