LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell men's track and field became the latest squad to earn academic honors when it was named an All-Academic Track and Field Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. The Bison posted a team grade point average of 3.16.
A total of 73 Division I men's programs were recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams this year. To be nominated, the squad must carry a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Bucknell was one of three Patriot League institutions to receive the honor along with Lehigh and Lafayette.
Leading the way for the Bison were Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central), Robert Arent (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) and Steven Pierce (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) who were named to the USTFCCA All-Academic Team last week. The trio was part of a national group recognized for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25 in addition to meeting either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participating in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in their respective event.
The Bison men's track and field team also placed a league-leading 34 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll this spring, adding to the program's success in the classroom.
