LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Mary Wilson (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West), a member of the Bison women's rowing team, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held at the Elaine Langone Center on Tuesday, May 4.
Wilson won the Ronald J. "Pete" Pedrick Award, presented to senior athletes "in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period." Wilson shared the award with Nick Donahue of the men's water polo team, who was the male selection.
In addition to Wilson, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class.
Wilson has been a member of the Bison women's rowing team that claimed its fifth consecutive Patriot League Championship last month. Wilson, who was one of seven Bucknell rowers named All-Patriot League, was the coxswain of the varsity eight, which was named Patriot League Boat of the Year for a fifth straight time.
As a sophomore and junior Wilson was the coxswain of the second varsity eight, which placed second at the 2008 Patriot League Championship and first in 2009.
Wilson owns a 3.66 cumulative grade-point average and posted a 4.0 during the fall 2009 semester while she was student teaching. She is majoring in mathematics and will graduate later this month.
