LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's rowing team had a program-record nine student-athletes named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athletes, it was announced Tuesday. Katherine Anderson (Piedmont, Calif./Bentley School), Stephanie Frank (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central), Devon Mitchell (Medford, N.J./Shawnee), Jillian O'Mara (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge), Meghan O'Reilly (Willington, Conn./Edwin O. Smith), Nicole Pilling (Wayne, Pa./Radnor), Elizabeth Regan (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Kim Weaver (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and Mary Wilson (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) were the nine Bison cited. Frank, O'Reilly and Weaver were recognized as members of the lightweight eight.
The CRCA recognizes student-athletes who are at least sophomore standing, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have been members of the institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boats for a minimum of 75% of the spring season.
Bucknell had six CRCA National Scholar-Athletes each of the last two years. It has now had 26 rowers recognized since 2007.
Five of the nine Bison honorees are repeat selections. Mitchell, O'Reilly, Regan and Wilson were each cited for the third consecutive year, while Weaver is now a two-time National Scholar-Athlete.
Bucknell, which won its fifth consecutive Patriot League title last month, still has one event remaining this year as the lightweight eight will compete at the IRA National Championship Regatta next week on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Bison won the event in 2007, claiming the only national title in school history.
