Bucknell Women's Water Polo Back in Action Sunday at Princeton

LEWISBURG, Pa. – After an idle weekend, the Bucknell women's water polo team gets back in the pool Sunday when it travels to Princeton, N.J., to take on league rival Princeton. The game will begin at 2 p.m. at DeNunzio Pool and there will be a live video broadcast available through www.goPrincetonTigers.com.
Sunday's game is the only one of the weekend for the Bison, while the host Tigers will also face league foes Maryland and George Washington on Saturday.
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Notebook (12-7, 4-0 CWPA)
• Bucknell was last in action two weeks ago when it hosted league rivals George Washington, Princeton and Maryland at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison went 3-0 that weekend and are now 7-2 in their last nine games.
• Bucknell is now 15-2 in its last 17 regular-season league games against conference opponents. The Bison have gone 5-1 in league play each of the last two years. They have just Sunday's contest and Princeton and next Sunday's game at Maryland left as they aim for the top seed at the Southern Championships.
• Bucknell's current three-game winning streak equals its longest of the year.
• Bucknell is in a slower stretch of its schedule where it will play just six games in a 28-day span leading up to the Southern Championships, which will be held the final weekend of April.
• Bucknell was originally scheduled to play nationally ranked Hartwick this past Wednesday (April 7), but that game was moved to next Friday, April 16, at 6 p.m. That contest will mark the final home game for the Bison in 2010.
• Bucknell is receiving votes in the latest top-20 national poll. It is the first time the Bison have received a vote in the poll this year. Bucknell has not been ranked since April 17, 2008, when it was listed 20th nationally. The Bison were ranked six weeks overall that season.
• Following the impressive 3-0 home weekend two weeks ago, sophomore Hallie Kennan was named both Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week and the CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week. She totaled 14 goals, four assists and 18 points in the three victories. She posted a career-high seven points against both Princeton and Maryland and leads the team with a career-high 46 goals on the year.
• Senior Valentina Rozas is 19 goals and 49 points shy of equaling the Bucknell career records in those categories. She has 218 goals and 91 assists in her career for a total of 309 points. She is one of just four Bison to register at least 300 points along with junior Kandis Canonica, who enters the weekend with 303 career points.
• Alison Carter has registered 180 saves this year, surpassing her 2009 total. She now has 640 stops in her career, ranking her third in program history. She also leads this year's squad with 44 steals and has recorded 10 double-figure save performances in the cage.
• Valentina Rozas is tied with Meagan Gins for the most ejections drawn in program history. Rozas, who leads the Bison with 40 ejections drawn this year, has 271 in her career.
• Kandis Canonica and Amanda Skonezney are the only two Bucknell players to start all 19 games this year.
