BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Senior Carol Donohue (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) scored her 100th career goal and pulled within two of the Bucknell all-time points record with a four-point night, but it came in an 18-7 loss at Binghamton on Wednesday night. Ali Castiglie had five goals and three assists and Beth Moore added four goals for the Bearcats, who won for the first time in 2010.
Donohue registered three goals and an assist to pace the Bison offensively. Her second goal was the 100th of her career, making her the sixth player in program history to reach the century mark. Donohue now has 70 career assists and 171 points, both of which are two shy of team records. Suzanne Raffaele is the all-time points leader with 173, while Melissa Montefusco's 72 assists still holds up as the top mark.
Madison Hurwitz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock), Michelle Milot (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), Julia Braun (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland) and Paige Cobbs (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) also scored goals for the Bison, who fell to 1-13 on the season.
The Bison got off to a rough start in this one, as Binghamton (1-8) scored on its first three shots in a matter of only 2:07 en route to a 7-0 lead. Braun put the Bison on the board with 14:55 left in the first half, but by halftime the Bearcats had scored on 12 of 16 shots and had a 12-2 lead.
Donohue scored only 31 seconds into the second half, and then again three minutes later for career goal No. 100. Bucknell never could whittle the deficit under eight goals, though, and Binghamton scored the final three of the night to win it 18-7.
Binghamton finished with a 32-22 shot advantage and led 16-11 in draw controls. Bucknell was hampered by 22 turnovers, 15 of them coming in the first half. The Bison were 0-for-5 on free-position attempts, while the Bearcats were 4-for-5.
Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East) finished with eight saves for Bucknell, while Binghamton's Emily Miller had 10.
Bucknell returns to action on Sunday, taking on Howard at Graham Field at 3 p.m.
