Bucknell's Elizabeth Regan Named Patriot League Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Elizabeth Regan (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was named the Patriot League Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday. The honor followed her Second Team All-Patriot League selection earlier in the day.
Regan, Bucknell's first-ever winner of the Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete award, helped the Bison to their fifth consecutive Patriot League title this past Sunday when she was part of the second varsity eight that won its race by a Patriot League-record 9.26 seconds. Regan rowed at four consecutive Patriot League Championships, helping Bucknell to the team title each time and helping her boat finish first or second each year.
Earlier in the year, Regan rowed with the varsity eight, posting first-place finishes at the Occoquan Sprints and Murphy Cup. She switched to the second varsity eight in mid-April and helped it to a win against its varsity eight teammates and MIT in her first competitions. This past weekend, she helped the second varsity eight defeat both Penn and Dartmouth in the same race for the first time in school history.
Over the course of her first four years Regan has rowed as part of the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four and has been a Patriot League, ECAC and international gold medalist.
A three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, Regan is a two-time CRCA National Scholar-Athlete and a seven-time Dean's List selection. She is a member of Alpha Lamda Delta Academic Fraternity and Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society and has been a TA for an economics course at Bucknell.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen are not eligible for this honor.
With the selection of Regan, Bucknell has now claimed five Patriot League Scholar-Athletes this year, boosting the school's all-time total to 118.
Regan and the Bison will be back in action this coming Saturday at the New England/Mid-Atlantic Championships on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
