Bucknell Men's Tennis Falls 6-1 at St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. - Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) recorded the lone point for Bucknell men's tennis as the Bison (1-6) fell 6-1 at St. Bonaventure on Saturday. Four Bison took their matches to three sets, but only Hascoe was able to pull out the victory at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 2-6, (10-8).
Hascoe defeated the Bonnies' Juan Garcia in a match that saw momentum go in favor of both players throughout the contest. The Bucknell senior won the first set easily, breaking Garcia's serve each time up, 6-0. Garcia got some payback in the second set, however, as he took the 6-2 victory. In the end, it was Hascoe who had the final word in the deciding super tiebreaker, 10-8.
Gregg Cohenca (Purchase, N.Y./Rye Country Day School), Anton Kovic (Montreal, Quebec/Milton Academy (Mass.)) and Gregory Maxson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Hotchkiss) also went the distance in their matches. At No. 1 singles, Cohenca came back from losing 6-4 in the first set to Chris Post and forced a super tiebreak to decide a winner. Post pulled out a win for the Bonnies, 10-5.
Maxson's match at No. 5 singles was also decided by a super tiebreaker. Oscar Yanez won the first set 6-3, but Maxson roared back in the second for a 6-0 victory. The match was ultimately decided by just two points with Yanez earning the final win 10-8.
Kovic fell to Diego Valdenegro at No. 2 singles. The final was 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in favor of the player from St. Bonaventure.
St. Bonaventure swept doubles play, although Clark Bogle (Hingham, Mass./Thayer Academy) and Josh Katten (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) made it close at the third position. The duo fell just short, however, losing 8-7 to Yanez and Luis Guevara.
Bucknell will be back in action on March 20. The Bison will take on Villanova in Villanova, Pa., at 1:30 p.m.
