LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's water polo players Hallie Kennan (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and Alison Carter (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor) both picked up their second weekly awards of the year earlier this week, it was announced by the Collegiate Water Polo Association. Kennan was named the CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week, while Carter copped Defensive Player of the Week honors during a 2-1 week for the Bison.
Kennan, who earned the same honor earlier this month, was one of two Bucknell (7-6) players to score at least one goal in all three games last week. She tallied three goals and one assist against league opponent George Washington and two goals and two assists opposite Cal State San Bernardino to open the team's five-game California swing.
In addition to her scoring prowess, Kennan registered three field blocks, one steal and one ejection drawn. She leads the Bison with 29 goals this season, while her 38 points rank second to Kandis Canonica's 43. Kennan already has career highs for goals, points and ejections drawn.
Carter has been solid all season in goal for Bucknell and she continued that this past week with 32 saves in 94 minutes of playing time. She had 13 saves against both George Washington and No. 11 UC Santa Barbara.
Through the campaign's first 13 games, Carter already has eight double-figure save outings and her 136 saves are within 40 of her 2009 total in 25 appearances. A three-year starter who ranks third in program history in saves, Carter is just four stops shy of reaching 600 for her career.
Carter, Kennan and the rest of the Bison will be in action Wednesday afternoon in California against Concordia. Game time is 8 p.m. Eastern against Chapman in Orange, Calif.
