PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Already a two-time Patriot League champion in the 100-yard backstroke, senior Courtney Warren (Montour Falls, N.Y./Watkins Glen) added a second ECAC title to her collection this past weekend, winning her second consecutive ECAC championship in the 100 back. The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team finished in 11th place out of 24 in the final team standings.
Colgate, a squad the Bison finished ahead of at last week's Patriot League Championships, was the top Patriot League team in the final standings, finishing fourth. Navy was sixth, while Bucknell's 11th-place showing was third among the four Patriot League teams in action. Only seven Bison individual competed in the meet.
Warren, who is the first swimmer in school history with two ECAC titles, earned her victory in the 100 back in a time of 55.08, finishing more than a second ahead of runner-up Kellyanne Tomasula from Rider. Warren also easily won the prelims, timing in more than .50 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Last year, Warren became Bucknell's first ECAC titlist since Bucknell Athletics Hall of Famer Jen Myers won the 200 back at the 1997 ECAC Championships. Fellow Hall of Famer Margaret Grunow, who won the 100 fly in 1993, is Bucknell's only other ECAC champion.
In addition to her performance in the 100 back, Warren finished fourth in the 100 free and ninth in the prelims of the 50 free.
Classmate Lauren Russell (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) also had a solid weekend, recording three top-10 times in the 100 fly, 100 back and 200 fly. She scored in all three events with a sixth-place finish in the 200 fly her best. Russell was also part of the 200 medley relay with Marisa Taddeo (Bohemia, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Alexandra Psaris (Waterford, Va./The Madeira School) and Kaitlyn Sweeney (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) that took 12th.
Kristen Bucaria (400 IM), Sinead O'Dwyer (200 IM), Psaris (200 fly) and Sweeney (100 fly) also scored points for the Bison.
Bucknell moved up three spots in the final team standings from last year when it finished 14th at the ECAC Championships.
