If you ask anyone, preseason is undoubtedly one of the most demanding aspects of the sport (and any sport for that matter), simply because of its length and the energy needed day-in and day-out. We're now finishing up our third week and the pieces are coming together really nicely. Since day one, I knew this team would be capable of not only showing up at practice, but going 110% in everything that we do. Everyone has demonstrated resilience in the face of a few speed bumps we've encountered along the way. Whether it be less than ideal weather (sub-10 degrees with 20 mph winds), a heavy conditioning day, or an injury, all of the girls have persevered and kept their heads up.
Each day we get a little bit closer to our opener against Penn State, and you can literally feel the excitement building. Every drill is better than the last and it's an amazing thing to see. Towards the end of every practice, we play 7 v. 7 and truly get to play. This is always the best part of practice. Everyone has the opportunity to really be in their element; we're given the freedom to be creative, utilize the skills we've been working on, and ultimately play lacrosse in its most fundamental state. It's fluid and moving and forces us to constantly be on our toes. This team is coming together perfectly and we couldn't be happier.
It was nice to host a winter clinic up in Davis Gym for about 40 high school girls, ranging from across the east coast. Sharing our knowledge and skill to those girls was rewarding and definitely brought us back to the time of our long and arduous recruiting endeavors.
Can't wait to see everyone in just a few short weeks!
