Brown Delivers for Bucknell Men's Cross Country at Patriot League Championships

EASTON, Pa. - Dave Brown (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) posted his best finish of the season at the Patriot League Championships in Easton, Pa., on Saturday afternoon, leading Bucknell men's cross country with a 23rd place showing. The Bison ultimately finished sixth as a team as their veterans claimed seven of their top eight places.
At the end of the meet, Bucknell had 130 points, just behind fifth-place Lehigh's 120. Leading the pack, however, was three-time defending champions Navy with 43 points and American with 52. Army took third (86 points), and Colgate was fourth (106). Holy Cross and Lafayette, finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
"Our men had our best race of the season, but unfortunately the final results do not show it," said head coach Kevin Donner. "We had a 19 second gap between our top six. Lacking a front runner hurt our team score."
For the first time this season, Brown claimed the top spot among Bison finishers. The junior's 23rd-place finish came with a time of 25 minutes, 49 seconds over eight kilometers. Brown was among the team's top five for just the second time this year. He was also a part of the leading group earlier this month at the Brooks Pre-National Invitational.
Joshua Clark (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) followed his teammate in 26th place. The senior crossed the line in 25:57. Charles Murphy (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) and Evan Novakowski (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) continued the senior strength for the Bison, finishing 30th (26:03) and 33rd (26:07), respectively. The lone underclassman to score, Robert Yamnicky (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) placed 28th overall with a time of 25:58.
Taking the individual title was Navy's Andrew Hanko. The senior claimed his second straight title in 24:22.
Bucknell will race again on Nov. 13 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Championships. Races in University Park, Pa., begin at 10 a.m.
