LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell cross country swept the Patriot League weekly honors on Monday as Charles Murphy (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) and Allison Donaghy (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) were recognized as the Runners of the Week. Also claiming top rookie honors were Stephanie Bryan (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and Tyler Erhard (Millerstown, Pa./East Juniata).
Murphy and Erhard helped the Bison to a third-place team finish at the Lock Haven River Run last Saturday. Individually, Murphy finished as Bucknell's lone top-10 finisher. The senior took 10th overall with a time of 25 minutes, 31 seconds over 10 kilometers. It was the first race in Murphy's career that he claimed the Bison's top scoring spot.
Erhard took 32nd overall and was the ninth Bison across the line. Competing in his second career collegiate race, the freshman finished in a time of 26:33.
On the women's side, Donaghy placed ninth overall to lead the Bison. Now a junior, it was the first time since her freshman campaign that she had scored in a meet. Donaghy completed the 6K course in 22:40.
Bryan became the second Bison freshman to score in more than one meet this season when she placed 18th overall and third on the team at Lock Haven. The freshman also scored by placing fourth at the Bucknell Open to begin the season. This past Saturday, Bryan posted a time of 23:06.
The Bucknell women's squad placed fifth as a team at the closely contended Lock Haven River Run.
The awards are career firsts for all four Bison. They also add to Chris Sacks' (Pound Ridge, N.Y./Fox Lane) pair of Rookie of the Week honors earlier this season.
Bucknell will be back in action on Saturday when it competes at the Patriot League Championships in Easton, Pa. The women will be defending their league title, while the men will attempt to improve on their third-place showing from 2009. Races begin at 10 a.m.
