LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell men's water polo sophomore Brian Barron (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Co-Player of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday. Barron totaled seven goals, three assists and seven steals in four league games at Kinney Natatorium this past weekend.
Barron, who posted three-goal outings against both Johns Hopkins and No. 17 Princeton, also drew six ejections, tallied one field block and won 8 of 15 sprints. He led the squad in scoring against the nationally ranked Tigers and topped all Bison with his seven goals for the weekend.
Barron surpassed his freshman-year goal total and now has career highs in goals (26), assists (13) and points (39). His 23 steals are also a career high and he ranks second on Bucknell (9-10) in that category.
One of the Bison's fastest swimmers, Barron won all four sprints opposite Johns Hopkins and has now claimed 30 of 50 this year.
Barron shared his first Player of the Week award with Navy's Luke Baldwin, who posted eight points in two games over the weekend.
Bucknell went 2-2 this past weekend, defeating George Washington (14-8) and Princeton (9-4) after losing to Johns Hopkins (12-11) and No. 18 Navy (9-4).
The Bison will conclude their regular season this weekend at the Santa Clara Invitational. They will play two games on both Saturday and Sunday.
