LEWISBURG, Pa. - Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./The Governor's Academy) of Bucknell cross country was named the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. The senior co-captain opened the 2009 season by finishing second overall at the Harry Lang Invitational at Colgate on Saturday and helping the Bison to a first-place team finish.
Huebner completed the 6,400-meter course at Colgate in a time of 20:36, trailing only the runner from Syracuse. The finish is Huebner's best since winning the Bison Opener in the first meet of the season a year ago.
Huebner was also named the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week last spring after qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Regional Meet in the steeplechase.
Bucknell defeated second-place Syracuse by 14 points in Hamilton, N.Y., on Saturday. The Bison men's cross country team hopes its success on the Colgate course will pay off at the end of the season, as the Raiders will also host the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 31.
Bucknell cross country next competes on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Duquesne. The races in Pittsburgh, Pa., are scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
