LEWISBURG, Pa. - The 2008-09 academic year recently concluded and Bucknell earned its 15th Patriot League Presidents' Cup in the last 19 years, had three teams earn Patriot League championships, was again among the nation's leaders in graduation rates and currently has 15 Academic All-District selections with more to come in the upcoming weeks. Even with all that success, some stories stood out more than others. Below are the 12 most popular releases and recaps that appeared on BucknellBison.com in 2008-09.

Bucknell All-American Andy Rendos Finishes Fifth at NCAA Wrestling Championships
Bucknell's Andy Rendos continued his run through the NCAA Wrestling Championships brackets at the Scottrade Center and ended up finishing fifth in the 165-pound weight class. By virtue of the fifth-place finish, Rendos is the first Bison to earn All-America honors since 1995. Additionally, the junior's showing is the second-best at NCAAs by a Bucknell wrestler. Bucknell Women's Track and Field Wins Patriot League Title!
Bucknell's women's track and field team claimed its eighth Patriot League title in the last 10 years as it easily defeated second-place Navy and third-place Colgate. The Bison scored 188.5 points, while the Mids recorded 119 and the Raiders 94. (May 2, 2009)
Overtime Field Goal by Carney Helps Bucknell Football Win Season Finale Over Fordham, 24-21
On Senior Day it was a senior who helped the Bucknell football team to a victory in its final game for the third consecutive year. Playing in his final contest, Will Carney connected on a 36-yard field goal in overtime to lead the Bison to a come-from-behind 24-21 victory over Fordham at a cold and windy Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. Bucknell Men's Lacrosse Wins Patriot League Regular-Season Title, Will Host PL Tournament after 19-11 Win at No. 13 Colgate
Behind a season-high five goals from freshman Charlie Streep, the 18th-ranked Bucknell men's lacrosse team exorcized three years of frustration against Colgate and clinched the Patriot League regular-season title against the 13th-ranked Raiders at Andy Kerr Stadium. (April 18, 2009)
Paulsen, Bison Collect First Win in 83-82 Double-Overtime Thriller over Old Dominion
The Bucknell men's basketball team was not having much luck in overtime this season, so on against Old Dominion the Bison tried their hand at double-overtime. This time it worked out, as Justin Castleberry scored a career-high 31 points, including an acrobatic go-ahead layup with 15 seconds to play in a wild 83-82 victory at Sojka Pavilion. (Nov. 25, 2008)
Bucknell Women's Rowing Claims Fourth Patriot League Title in a Row!
The Bucknell women's rowing team won its fourth consecutive Patriot League title Sunday morning on the Cooper River. The Bison swept the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four races as it piled up a record-tying 30 team points. Navy was second with 24 points as it was the runner-up finisher in each of the three championship races. Bison head coach Stephen Kish was awarded his third Patriot League Coach of the Year honor, while the varsity eight was named Boat of the Year for the fourth straight year. (April 26, 2009)
Bucknell Wrestling Program Takes Major Stride Forward with Third-Place Finish, Five NCAA Automatic Qualifiers at EIWA Championships
The remarkable resurgence of the Bucknell wrestling program continued in a big way this weekend, as a Bison squad made up of only three classes of recruited grapplers finished in a tie for third place at the EIWA Championships at the Palestra. The upstart squad came home with seven placewinners, and five wrestlers have secured automatic berths in the NCAA Championships, with two others up for at-large consideration. (March 8, 2009)
Bucknell Men's Golf Rallies to Win 2009 Patriot League Title!
Andrew Cohen shot a 1-under 69 to help the Bucknell men's golf team rally to win the 2009 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship, which wrapped up Sunday at the West Point Golf Club. Cohen was 2-under for the tournament and won medalist honors for the first time in his career, while the Bison team closed with a round of 292 to make up a 4-stroke deficit at the start of the day and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last four years. Patriot League Presidents' Cup Remains at Bucknell
A big spring season helped Bucknell pull away in the race for the Patriot League Presidents' Cup, and the Bison have earned the all-sports championship for the 15th time in the 19-year history of the league. It is Bucknell's fourth straight Cup, and its 11th in the last 12 years. The Bison also captured their 12th straight and 15th overall Women's Cup title. (May 18, 2009)
Bucknell Men's Soccer Earns Share of Penn State Classic Championship with 2-0 Win over Nittany Lions
Senior Mark Schmiegel scored the go-ahead goal early in the second half and freshman Tommy Caso made five saves in his first career shutout, helping the Bucknell men's soccer team claim a share of the Penn State Classic championship with a 2-0 victory over the host Nittany Lions. (Sept. 7, 2008)
Bucknell Women's Soccer Rallies Past Maryland, 3-2
Senior co-captain Jennifer Dervarics scored the tying and go-ahead tallies to spark Bucknell's three-goal second-half explosion, and the Bison surprised host Maryland 3-2 at Ludwig Field on Friday night. Junior Chelsea McGorry added an important insurance goal, and junior keeper Kathryn Sutton made eight saves to keep the Bison unbeaten (2-0-1) on the young season. (Aug. 29, 2008)
