Bucknell Notes
• In their most recent outing, the Bison dropped a close 6-5 game at Penn State Tuesday night. Bucknell scored four runs in the top of the eighth to tie the score at 5-5, but the Nittany Lions plated the eventual winning run later that inning. Seven different Bucknell relievers held Penn State to just three runs and four hits over the final six innings.
• Two Bison were honored by the Patriot League earlier this week. Sophomore Doug Shribman was named Patriot League Player of the Week for the first time in his career, while classmate Trey Frahler earned his second Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honor.
• This is the third straight year that the Bison have opened Patriot League play at 3-1. Bucknell has not started 4-1 since 2004.
• The Bison had a season-long four-game winning streak that was ended by Army last Sunday.
• Bucknell has registered at least 10 hits in five out of its last seven outings.
• The Bison lead the Patriot League with 22 home runs this year, five more then the second-place team. They also own a team batting average of .293, which trails only Lafayette and Army in the Patriot League.
• Bob Donato's five-game hitting streak is the team's longest active streak going into this weekend's series. That is his longest hitting streak this season.
• Andrew Brouse leads the Patriot League with a career-high 32 runs batted in. He has nine multiple-RBI games this year and needs to drive in just seven more runs to join Bucknell's single-season top-10 list.
• Andrew Loucks hit a home run in each of last Saturday's games against Army. He is the seventh Bison to hit multiple home runs this season.
• Senior Chris Yamaguchi, who has been used mainly out of the bullpen this year, is 4-0 and owns a 2.45 ERA this season, good for second in the Patriot League.
• Freshman lefty Russell Seidell has been strong coming out of the bullpen lately. He has pitched 5.1 scoreless innings over his last five outings and has seen his ERA plummet from 11.12 to 5.73.
• Bucknell tallied double-figure hits for the 14th time this season when it outhit Penn State 12-8 on Tuesday. The Bison have plated at least 10 runs in a game seven times this year, all in the last 12 outings.
• Ben Allen has started 61 consecutive games at shortstop for the Bison. Along with Andrew Brouse, he is one of two Bucknell players to start all 25 contests this year.
