Four Bucknell Women's Rowers Earn All-Patriot League Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's rowing team won its fourth consecutive Patriot League title Sunday on the Cooper River and on Tuesday learned a league-most four of its student-athletes were named All-Patriot League. Seniors Kelly Henkler (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), Whittney Henry (Mathews, Va./Mathews), Page Kannor (Boise, Idaho/Boise) and Jeweliet Yost (Ventnor, N.J./Atlantic City) were the four Bison recognized.
All four of Bucknell's selections were members of the varsity eight, which copped Patriot League Boat of the Year honors for the fourth straight year after defeating second-place Navy by more than four seconds. The Bison timed in at 6:46.06, while the Mids crossed the finish line in 6:50.21.
Henkler, who was an all-league selection in 2006 and 2007, and Yost, who has been the all-league coxswain three straight years, each made their third appearances on the all-league list. Henry was honored for the second time in the last three years, while Kannor, a four-year member of the varsity eight, earned her first career All-Patriot League certificate.
This is the fourth consecutive year Bucknell has had four student-athletes honored with All-Patriot League honors. The format for the All-Patriot League Women's Rowing Team is predicated on the team's finish in the varsity eight race at the Patriot League championship. The first-place team earns three rowers and one coxswain, the second-place boat earns three rowers, while the third-place boat places two rowers on the all-league squad. Both the fourth and fifth-place finishers have one all-league selection.
In addition to the All-Patriot League honors, Bucknell head coach Stephen Kish earned his third Patriot League Coach of the Year award for guiding the Bison to the title and a record-tying 30 team points.
Bucknell will be back in action this Saturday, May 2, at the Northeast Regional Championship. The event will take place on the Cooper River, the same body of water on which the Patriot League Championship took place.
