Eight Bucknell Men's Water Polo Players Earn Spots on CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Eight Bucknell men's water polo players were named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Scholar-Athlete Team on Tuesday. As a team, the Bison posted a grade-point average of 3.12 during the fall semester, ranking fifth among all varsity programs.
Student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.20 to 3.40 GPA (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.70 GPA (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding). Bucknell had three players recognized in the Superior category and five land on the Excellent list.
Senior captains Gabriel Heiber (Caracas, Venezuela/Miami Beach (Fla.)) and Alex Lampley (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin), along with sophomore Howie Kalter (Durham, N.H./Phillips Academy Andover), were listed in the Superior category. Alex Lovell (Palos verdes Estates, Calif./Chadwick), Andrew Nelson (Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes), Paul Reamey (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), Spencer Richley (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and Daniel Schwartz (Miami Beach, Fla./Ransom Everglades) were the quintet of Bison recognized on the Excellent list.
A total of 107 varsity student-athletes were recognized by the CWPA with 26 earning Outstanding recognition, 44 earning Superior recognition and 37 receiving Excellent recognition.
This past fall Bucknell went 17-16 and finished fifth at the Eastern Championship. It was the fourth time in the last five years the Bison have finished above .500 despite playing a difficult schedule that featured 17 ranked opponents.
