Seven Bucknell Men's Water Polo Players Named to ACWPC All-Academic Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Seven Bucknell men's water polo players were honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) this week when they earned All-Academic awards. As a team, the Bison posted a grade-point average of 3.12 during the fall semester.
Student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.20 to 3.40 GPA (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.70 GPA (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding). Bucknell had three players recognized in the Superior category and four land on the Excellent list.
Senior captains Gabriel Heiber (Caracas, Venezuela/Miami Beach (Fla.)) and Alex Lampley (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin), along with sophomore Howie Kalter (Durham, N.H./Phillips Academy Andover), were listed in the Superior category. Alex Lovell (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Chadwick), Andrew Nelson (Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes), Paul Reamey (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and Spencer Richley (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) were the quartet of Bison recognized on the Excellent list.
This past fall Bucknell went 17-16 and finished fifth at the Eastern Championship. It was the fourth time in the last five years the Bison have finished above .500 despite playing a difficult schedule that featured 17 ranked opponents.

Gabriel Heiber (Superior recognition) – Second Team All-Conference, second on team with 63 ejections drawn in 2008
Howie Kalter (Superior recognition) – Second on team with 42 goals and 73 points in 2008
Alex Lampley (Superior recognition) – Second Team All-Conference, led team with 66 ejections drawn in 2008
Alex Lovell (Excellent recognition) – One of four Bison to play in all 33 games in 2008
Andrew Nelson (Excellent recognition) – Tied for fifth on team with career-high 24 assists in 2008
Paul Reamey (Excellent recognition) – Nine goals, three assists in 2008
Spencer Richley (Excellent recognition) – Four goals, seven assists in 2008
