LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Andrew Loucks (Mississauga, Ontario/Appleby College) became the second consecutive Bison to be named the Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week, when he was cited on Monday. The outfielder was 11-for-18, scored seven runs and drove in six in five games last week.
Loucks began the week on a high note when he tied the Bucknell record with six hits in a 22-9 win over Mount St. Mary's. Loucks was 6-for-7 in the game with three runs scored, two doubles and four runs batted in. All six of his hits came in the fourth inning or later as he equaled the program record that Vig Cegles had held by himself since 1969.
Loucks also posted a multi-hit game Sunday in a 13-6 win over Canisius as he was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. He was 9-for-11 in Bucknell's two wins last week.
Thanks to his performance last week, Loucks now leads the Bison in hitting with a solid .450 average. He is also first in on-base percentage (.489) and second in slugging percentage (.575).
Entering this season, Loucks had accumulated just nine career hits in 29 at bats. He has doubled that hit total this year with an 18-for-40 showing at the plate. Loucks now owns a .391 career batting average.
Loucks is the second Bucknell player in as many weeks to be named Patriot League Player of the Week, following Andrew Brouse.
Loucks and his Bison teammates, who are 7-12 and are coming off a four-game series with Canisius where they went 1-3, continue their nine-game homestand Wednesday when they host Bloomsburg at 3:30 p.m. at Depew Field.
