LEWISBURG, Pa. – Another week, another Patriot League citation for Bucknell sophomore Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East). The Bison netminder earned Patriot League Goalie of the Week honors for the third straight week, the fourth time in the last five weeks and the fifth time in her career.
This week's award comes after a career-high 17-save performance in an 8-7 win over Binghamton on Wednesday, followed by a nine-save effort in a 14-11 victory over Patriot League rival Lafayette on Saturday.
In the Binghamton win, DeLorenz made a critical save on a free-position shot with the game tied at 7-7 with 3:46 left in the game. Bucknell took over possession and eventually scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining. She made a similar stop on an 8-meter attempt from Lafayette's leading scorer in a three-goal game with five minutes to play, and the Bison were able to run out the clock and preserve the win.
DeLorenz has taken over the Patriot League lead in save percentage (.530) and saves per game (10.8), and she ranks second in goals-against average (9.74). Among the national leaders, she ranks seventh in save percentage, eighth in saves per game and 18th in goals-against average.
Bucknell is now 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League heading into Wednesday's non-conference game at Drexel.
