LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell's road victory over Patriot League co-leader Holy Cross on Saturday night resulted in a pair of Bison earning Patriot League weekly awards. Junior forward Patrick Behan (Leesburg, Va./Notre Dame Academy) was named Patriot League/Anaconda Player of the Week, while freshman guard Bryan Cohen (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington Friends) was named Patriot League/Anaconda Rookie of the Week.
Behan won player of the week honors for the second time this season, while Cohen was picked as the top rookie for the third time. Both players had strong games in a two-point loss to the other Patriot League co-leader, American, on Wednesday, and the duo played integral roles in Bucknell's first road victory of the season at Holy Cross over the weekend.
In the 72-66 victory over the Crusaders, Behan tallied a game-high 23 points along with eight rebounds. He made 7 of 13 shots from the floor, then with the game on the line he nailed eight consecutive free throws in the final 45 seconds to preserve the win.
Behan also had 13 points and seven rebounds in the 52-50 loss to American, and in his last six games, he is averaging 17.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the field. For the year, he leads the team in both scoring (12.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.3) and ranks in the top 10 in the Patriot League in both categories.
Cohen registered 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and a career-high three steals in the win over Holy Cross. He accounted for what was perhaps the team's biggest field goal of the night, a leaner in the paint with 56 seconds left that stretched a four-point lead up to six.
Cohen, who logged 13 points in the American game, ranks second on the team and 11th in the Patriot League in scoring at 11.8 ppg. He is the league's No. 2 scorer among freshmen and leads all PL newcomers in 3-pointers (43) and minutes played (33.2 mpg).
Bucknell is now 6-19 overall and 3-8 in the Patriot League heading into Wednesday's road game at Lafayette.
