Bison Track and Field To Host Bucknell Winter Classic Meet Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. – With the Patriot League Championships due to take place in Annapolis, Md., next week, the Bucknell track and field teams will host the 18th Annual Bucknell Winter Classic at Gerhard Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 14. It will be the final home meet of the indoor season for the Bison.
There will be 14 colleges represented at the meet: Bloomsburg University, Bucknell University, Carnegie-Mellon University, Gettysburg College, Hagerstown Community College, Juniata College, Kutztown University, Millersville University, Moravian University, Muhlenberg University, Prince George's Community College, Shippensburg University, Temple University, and Towson University.
Field events will kick off with the women's long jump beginning at 10 a.m. Events on the track will begin with the 55-meter hurdles, which start at 11 a.m. The last event of the day, the alumni 3,000-meter run, will start at 4:55 p.m.
Bucknell will use Saturday's meet as a warm-up for the Patriot League Championships. Many athletes will participate in their secondary events, rather than their primary ones.
Last year's Bucknell Winter Classic Meet was highlighted by a pair of Bucknell wins in the mile. Senior Wallace Campbell's victory was clocked in 4 minutes, 9.26 seconds, for the seventh fastest performance in Bucknell history. On the women's side, the race was won by senior Offeibea Hanson-Hall in 5:10.51.
