LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's cross country runner Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) was selected as the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday following an outstanding performance the Patriot League Championships in which Bucknell claimed the team title. The sophomore finished sixth overall to lead all Bison runners and was named First Team All-Patriot League for the second time in her career.
Fulmer completed Colgate's six-kilometer Harry Lang Cross Country Course in a time of 23:15. By placing sixth, she earned her second top-10 finish at the championships. As a freshman a year ago, Fulmer finished second and was named Rookie of the Meet and First Team All-Patriot League.
With the help of Fulmer's strong outing, Bucknell won the team title at the meet. It was the eighth time the Patriot League title has gone to the Bison, the most in league history.
Fulmer began the season slowly, recovering from injury. She picked up the pace quickly, however. Despite racing just three times this fall, including the Patriot League Championships, Fulmer scored for Bucknell on each occasion.
This is the third time in Fulmer's career she has been named the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week. She twice earned the honor during the 2008 cross country season.
Bucknell will compete again on Nov. 14 when it travels to Princess Anne, Md., for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. The race is scheduled for a 1:15 p.m. start.
