LEWISBURG, Pa. – Dumitrita Iepuras (Chisinau, Moldova/Germantown Friends School) claimed the year's first Patriot League Female Tennis Player of the Month on Wednesday. The sophomore's honor comes on the heels of winning the Flight B singles championship at the Bucknell Invitational last weekend.
With an 11-2 record, Iepuras leads the Bison in singles wins this fall. She started the season by winning both her matches at the Bloomsburg Invitational. Although she opened the fall's first Bucknell Invitational a week later with a loss, Iepuras collected three victories in the consolation draw to take fifth place.
The reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Iepuras won three singles contests, upsetting the fourth seeded player from Army in the process, at the Eastern Championships to close out September.
Iepuras is 3-3 in doubles play this fall as well, playing with Jennie Ciotti (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and Dara Dwojewski (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham).
Bucknell will continue its fall schedule next week by hosting the third and final Bucknell Invitational. The tournament, which will also include men's play, begins Friday, Oct. 16 and continues through Sunday, Oct. 18.
