Bucknell's Kyle Anthony Honored by ECAC

LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second consecutive day, Bucknell track & field member Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central) was honored for his performance at the Gulden Relays, on Saturday, Jan. 10. On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Anthony was named ECAC Field Athlete of the Week for Division I. Anthony, the Most Valuable Field Athlete of the Meet at the Gulden Relays in both 2008 and 2009, finished first in two events on Saturday and third in another.
Anthony won the triple jump with a leap of 48 feet, 6.25 inches, an IC4A-qualifying mark. He ranks second in Bison history in the indoor triple jump (49-7 3/4). Anthony ran the 200-meter portion of the sprint medley relay, and along with Guy Castranova (Trout Run, Pa./Montoursville Area), Andrew Yehl (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and Clayton Smith (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) combined to finish the medley in three minutes, 35.25 seconds. That is the sixth fastest time in Bison history. Finally, Anthony recorded a long jump distance of 21-10 1/4, finishing in third place. He ranks fourth in school history in the indoor long jump, with a personal best mark of 23-11 1/4.
Anthony was an IC4A qualifier in both the indoor triple jump and the long jump in 2007 and 2008, finishing first in the triple jump at the 2007 Patriot League Championships and second a year ago. At the 2008 Gulden Relays, he finished first in the triple jump and recorded a season-best in the long jump. He won the long jump at the 2007 Gulden Relays.
A double major in English and philosophy, Anthony is a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Anthony and the Bison track & field team will participate in its first scored meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 17, when it hosts the Bucknell Heptagonal. The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
