LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's track and field team had a whopping 36 student-athletes named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Wednesday. The Bison accounted for nearly 27 percent of the 134 track and field student-athletes named to the Honor Roll.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.
Senior David Mante headlined Bucknell's list. A three-time Patriot League champion in the pole vault, Mante was recently named the 116th Academic All-American in school history.
Bucknell's 36 Honor Roll honorees easily outdistanced second-place Holy Cross, which had 24 student-athletes on the Honor Roll. American was next with 19, while Navy (16), Lafayette (15) and Colgate (12) each had at least 10 team members honored. Army (7) and Lehigh (5) rounded out the list.
The Bison men's track and field team was strong outside of the classroom as well in 2008. The squad finished second at the Patriot League Indoor Championships and third at the Outdoor Championships.
The following are Bucknell's 2008 Patriot League Honor Roll members from the men's track and field team.
