Bucknell Women's Water Polo Places Five on CWPA All-Academic Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Five Bucknell women's water polo players were honored by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) with positions on the CWPA All-Academic Team, which was released on Monday. As a team, the Bison owned a 3.04 cumulative grade-point average to rank among the best in the CWPA.
Student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.2 to 3.4 GPA (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.7 GPA (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding). Bucknell had one player recognized in the Superior category and four on the Excellent list.
Aubrey Rowe (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was the lone Bison to appear in the Superior category, while Alison Carter (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor), Meagan Gins (Albuquerque, N.M./Valley), Whitney Allen (Hillsborough, Calif./Menlo) and Valentina Rozas (Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) were on the Excellent list.
In the pool, Bucknell posted a record-setting 26-10 mark in 2008. It was ranked for six weeks during the season, climbing as high as No. 19 nationally, and won the ECAC Championship for the first time in program history. The Bison also equaled their best finish at the Southern Championships (2nd) and posted their second-best showing at the Eastern Championship (6th).
