Bucknell Track and Field Finishes Competition at NCAA East Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Bucknell men's and women's track and field teams had five qualifiers compete in Day One of the NCAA East Regional Championships, hosted by Florida State University, on Friday afternoon. In the javelin throw, senior Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold), set a new school record.
Rogers, the 2008 Patriot League champion in the event, placed second in her heat and ninth overall with a career-best mark of 157-3. She topped her own school record of 154-3, set in 2007. Also competing in the event was freshman Laura Rycek (Northampton, Pa./Northampton). She placed seventh in her heat and 19th overall with a distance of 135-7.
Senior Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) took sixth in her heat and 16th overall in the discus throw. She posted a distance of 150-9.
In the prelim for the 400-meter dash, junior Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton), the Patriot League champion in the event, ran a time of 48.04 to finish sixth in his heat and 30th overall.
