Bucknell Men's Track and Field Wraps Up IC4A Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Bucknell men's track and field team finished competition at the IC4A Championships at Boston University on Sunday afternoon, with sophomore Ryan White (Elkins Park, Pa./Father Judge) establishing a career-best point total of 4,973 in the heptathlon and freshman Drew Fitzgerald (Ballston Spa, Pa./Ballston Spa) tying his personal best mark in the high jump, 6-8 ¼.
Fitzgerald tied his career-best mark of 6-8 ¼ in the high jump, which he originally set at the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago, to place seventh in the event and score for the Bison on Sunday. Fitzgerald's height ties the sixth-best mark in program history.
After posting season bests in the heptathlon 55-meter dash (6.81) and the heptathlon long jump (21-5 ½) on Saturday, White went on to post a season-best height of 14-9 in the pole vault (fourth) and his fastest time of the season in the 1,000-meter run, 2:54.56 (12th) on Sunday. White also ran a time of 8.19 in the 55-meter hurdles (seventh) to compile his career-best point total of 4,973 in the heptathlon, placing ninth overall.
In the final for the 4x800 relay, senior Brian Mooney (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili), freshman John Picardo (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton Central), freshman Clayton Smith (Sparta N.J./Pope John XXIII) and sophomore Kyle Ramer (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) scored for the Bison, running a time of 7:43.40 for eighth place.
Another top finisher for the Bison was sophomore Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central) in the triple jump. Anthony finished in ninth with a distance of ninth 48-1 ¼ after placing 11th in the long jump on Saturday, with a distance of 22-1/4.
Bucknell juniors Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) and Kevin Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) ran in the final for the 400-meter dash after placing fourth and tenth, respectively, in the prelim for the event on Saturday. Boyle ran a time of 48.54 for 10th in the final while MacLeod finished in 49.24 for 12th place.
Also competing for the Bison on Day Two of the IC4A Championships was sophomore Timothy Medlock (Evan Mills, N.Y./Indian River) in the shot put. Medlock came in 23rd place with a distance of 47-10 ½.
The NCAA Championships are set for March 14 - 15, in Fayetteville, Ark. Bucknell will begin the outdoor season March 29, sending athletes to both the Maryland Invitational in College Park, Md., and the Susquehanna Invitational in Selinsgrove, Pa.
