MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Carol Donohue (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) registered four goals and three assists, and the Bucknell women's lacrosse team completed a remarkable 3-0 week with a tense 15-14 victory at Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Becca Devine (Arlington, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) scored a career-high four goals for the Bison (5-3), who defeated La Salle, Ohio State and Robert Morris this week, all on the road in a span of five days.
In Friday night's win at Ohio State, Bucknell trailed 11-3 before rallying to win 18-17. The reverse nearly happed in this one, as Robert Morris staged a furious rally after trailing 11-4 at halftime.
The Bison outscored the Colonials 8-0 in the final 16:02 of the first half, flipping a 4-3 deficit into that seemingly commanding 11-4 edge. Devine, who had one goal this season comin in, scored all four of her goals in that run, including two in a span of only 20 seconds.
But Robert Morris (2-8) tallied three times in the first four minutes of the second stanza and outscored the Bison 6-2 in the first 19 minutes to get back in the game. Jenn Collins' goal with 11:19 remaining got the Colonials within 13-10.
Bucknell grabbed the momentum back with two goals in just 11 seconds. Donohue scored with 8:05 left, then she grabbed the ensuing draw and fed Sarah Collins (Goldens Bridge, N.Y./John Jay) for another score to make it 15-10 with 7:54 to play.
Alana Beck scored three times and assisted on Collins' goal in a 4-0 run to make it a 15-14 game. Beck's final goal came with 48 seconds remaining. Robert Morris won the draw but was not able to get a shot off.
Freshman goalie Alyssa DeLorenz (Garland, Texas/Plano East) had a solid day with 14 saves. Senior defender Lauren Deitrich was also strong with five ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers.
Donohue had her second straight seven-point game, and she has now scored five or more points five times in eight contests this season.
Robert Morris outshot Bucknell 33-28, including 18-9 in the second half comeback attempt. Bucknell won the ground ball battle 18-14.
