LEWISBURG, Pa. - Terry Conrad, a longtime assistant men's basketball coach at Bucknell as well as the former head coach at nearby Lycoming and Bloomsburg, has returned to the Bucknell staff as manager of athletics fundraising. In his new role Conrad will work closely with Associate Director of Athletics and Director of the Bison Club Todd Newcomb, as well as the Bucknell Office of Development and Alumni Relations, as a member of the Bison Club athletics fundraising team.
Conrad's primary responsibility will be to work alongside Tom Harvey, Bucknell's Senior Manager of Athletics Fundraising, to identify and solicit new athletics annual donors to the Bison Club, while at the same time soliciting current members of the organization to increase their annual contributions.
"We are excited that Terry has returned to Bucknell as a member of our athletics fundraising team," said Newcomb. "His former stay as a member of the Bucknell men's basketball coaching staff provided him with a wealth of knowledge on Bison athletics, and enabled him to develop extensive relationships with hundreds of former Bison student-athletes. His dynamic personality is a perfect match with our donor base."
Conrad served as an assistant coach at Bucknell from 1989-2000, working with head coaches Charlie Woollum and Pat Flannery during that 11-year span. He was part of a staff that compiled a 90-38 Patriot League record and four appearances in the league championship game during his time on the Bison bench.
In 2000 Conrad began a three-year stint as head coach at Lycoming, where he led the Warriors to the 2002 Freedom Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The league title was the first in program history, and Conrad was rewarded with Freedom Conference Coach of the Year honors.
Following the 2002-03 campaign, Conrad returned to his alma mater, Bloomsburg University, where he coached the Huskies' men's basketball team for three seasons.
A 1983 Bloomsburg graduate and the No. 10 scorer in school history as a member of the basketball squad, Conrad has remained active in athletics. A 24-year member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, he has worked at numerous prestigious summer basketball camps, officiated local high school games and served on the Lewisburg Youth Basketball Board. Conrad is also a member of the Lewisburg School Board.
The Bison Club provides support for each of Bucknell's 27 varsity sports, as well as cheerleading, athletic training and other department of athletics programs. The Bison Club has topped the $1 million mark in donations in each of the last five years.
